Last night's MTV Awards was awesome. Pink's trapeze performance had me enthralled, Lady Gaga's performance was worth the price of admission, Madonna's opening speech was touching, and MJ's tribute rocked!
However, Kanye needs to be muzzled. What he did is on par with Joe Wilson. Disrepectful, repugnant, rude and completely uncalled for.
Granted, I'm not a Taylor Swift fan, but her Man on the Moon was earned and apparently deserved. This was her first MTV award. And for Kanye to steal her thunder was as bad as Vick slamming a pit bull to the ground. Kanye, it was heartless.
Likewise, what Joe Wilson did was disrespectful to our President, disrespectful to the House of Representatives and disrespectful to our governmental structure that our forefathers put in place that honors multiple political leadership.
At some point, these people, these role models, whether they be politicians or musicians, need to employ their moral compass and speak only when it's appropriate.
As for what should be done, Wilson and West both need to be punished for their stupidity. I just don't know if Wilson's rebuke is enough. Obama graciously accepted his apology, but really, it's not enough. And, dammit, these award shows need to stop inviting Kanye Dick.
